Growing up in the 70s and 80s, Mark was exposed to several genres of music.

Northern soul, disco and early electro sounds have all shaped the musical journey.

Like many, Mark was drawn towards the early house sounds of the late 80s. This continued into the early 90s where the rave scene became the main attraction.

Making many mixtapes and bombarding promoters with tapes sent through the post, spending too much time (and money) in record shops resulted in opportunities to play in local clubs and learn the art of reading a crowd.

Mark describes this as an essential part of any DJs journey stating:

‘Just turning up with a pre-planned set, is something that never worked for me. I will always have the first one or two tracks ready to go, after that I will always respond to the crowd and the previous DJs set list.’

Throughout the 90s and into the early 2000s, Mark played at numerous events up and down the country, putting on several events with his friends, working with some of the biggest artists in the scene, and playing for some of the biggest brands including Shelley’s, Fantazia, Pandemonium and many more.

Evolving his sets and embracing technology, Mark continues to play up and down the country, often taking crowds on a journey through the decades with his sets.

‘My reputation as a DJ is something I’m very proud of, I’ve earned my stripes, played to empty rooms, arrived with a bag of records to be told the doors are being closed. All of that shapes you.

It’s important that you use all of that experience to shape who you are as a DJ and more importantly as a person.

I’m proud to have been around for so long, DJing is not my career, I’m not a producer, I’m not a creator, I am however a passionate DJ who will makes sure that the crowd doesn’t know what to expect, mixing up the classics with the newest releases, providing something for everyone.’

Mark.
